Following my previous rant about having mice despite attempts by Orkin to get rid of them, I contacted the company via social media and my situation was forwarded to the local branch manager last Thursday. He called me, then said that he would personally come out and take care of things himself. We had plans Friday and wouldn’t be home, so he set us an appointment aside for Monday… then sent someone else.
Now, I do adore our normal technician. There’s not been any time in any of this during which I thought he was doing a subpar job, slacking, or anything like that. My issue was in thinking that the general handling of rodents by Orkin wasn’t worth what we were paying, or at least wasn’t going to be successful in our situation. So to be clear, my issue has never been with our technician (he’s great) but rather with Orkin in general. I’m also very annoyed that the branch manager stated that he would personally be coming out himself but did not. Don’t tell me one thing to pacify me then do something else.
All of that aside, our technician asked what was going on so I updated him on what was going on since his last visit, from being cornered in the bathroom by one myself to my husband having one literally run over his foot. He thinks that sealing up the main entry trapped one or more (but not many) inside. The poison was eaten so quickly because we’re pretty good about not leaving food out, so even one mouse would put a pretty big dent in it in a short period of time. The poison would take longer to do it’s job where there’s also not easy access to water.
Prior to his arriving I had been folding laundry. While putting it away I came across a nest in one of my drawers, which couldn’t have been there for a week. He cleaned it out and confirmed that it was very new as it didn’t have any droppings in it. Pulling the drawers out he also found a pile of peanuts in shells… which is extremely odd since we don’t buy them. In the entirety of the time I’ve known my hubby, we’ve only had those kinds of nuts at Reno’s Roadhouse. It’s crazy… where did they come from?! We had to laugh, but that’s a puzzle for sure. He set traps back on a couple levels of the dresser so we’ll see how that goes. He also went around and stuffed wire material around pipes and cable entries. There has been no activity since his visit… at least not yet. Hopefully this is the end of it. We’ll see.
